Condition Assessment of NCSU Parking Deck

FDH was contracted by North Carolina State University to perform a condition assessment of the four-level Dan Allen parking deck reinforced with concrete slabs and columns. FDH reviewed existing documentation, conducted a visual inspection, performed half-cell tests to determine corrosion, and obtained drilled samples for chemical analysis to determine the condition of the concrete. Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and half-cell corrosion detection methods located steel reinforcement and determined presence and risk of corrosion. Recommendations were given on how to resolve the problem areas.
