New A10.48 Standard Transformative for Tower Industry Posted on Aug 10, 2016

The National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) announced this week the finalization of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) A10.48-2016 Standard. NATE called the new standard a “game changer” for the industry because of its comprehensive reach across the entire tower construction, service and maintenance industry.

FDH Velocitel’s regulatory compliance advisor, Don Doty, who serves on the NATE A10.48 Subcommittee, views the standard as “one of the most significant developments to have occurred in my 43 years working in the industry.” Doty recognized the efforts of the many organizations and subject matter experts who worked diligently over the past six years to develop the transformative standard.

According to NATE, the new A10.48 standard, titled Criteria for Safety Practices with the Construction, Demolition, Modification and Maintenance of Communications Structures, establishes minimum criteria for safe work practices and training for personnel performing work on communication structures, including antenna and antenna supporting structures, broadcast, and other similar structures supporting communication-related equipment.
