Wind Turbine Foundation Mapping

FDH evaluated foundations of wind turbines across the country. FDH investigated the foundation concrete health, foundation movement, and anchor bolt integrity. Findings indicated that overall foundation health can vary between severely damaged and no damage, regardless of the intensity of failure of the superstructure. FDH pioneered a testing approach to sweep critical areas of likely foundation failure locations with minimal excavation, paving the way for future testing while turbines remain in service.
