Structural Design of NCSU Retaining Wall and Stairways

At Kilgore Hall on NCSU’s campus, FDH was hired to extend a brick wall that functioned as a dumpster screen. A cistern was added, and FDH designed the concrete pad to support the cistern.

At Syme Building on NCSU’s campus, FDH removed the existing hazardous wooden stairs, wall, brick walk, and managed construction of the new concrete walk, concrete stairs, metal stair with green screen, cistern, and level spreader.

At Turlington Hall on NCSU’s campus, FDH designed a new structural steel stair, handrail, and guardrail. Assembly was accomplished with precast stone treads and landing. The project included construction of concrete footing at base of stringer and attachment to Turlington Hall façade.
