Structural Analysis for UNC Hospital Upgrade

FDH was subcontracted by Skanska for UNC Hospitals to perform load tests on the Berchtold medical equipment mounting plates to determine the mounting plate’s rotation under the design loads provided by the manufacturer. FDH tested 12 locations and provide a report of its findings to Skanska. FDH conducted the load tests using a fabricated steel assembly designed to simulate the required design loads. A Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) was used to measure the deflection of the baseplate under the design loads, and the deflection was used to determine the mounting plate’s rotation.
