Rooftop Structural Analysis for UNC Hospital Renovation
UNC Hospitals renovated and expanded its bone marrow transplant unit, located on the second floor of the hospital. Part of the renovation included the addition of an HVAC unit to support the new space. FDH was subcontracted by MHAWorks, the architectural firm under contract to UNC Hospitals for the renovation, to conduct a structural analysis of the rooftop and to design a platform suitable to support the 100,000-pound HVAC unit on the third-floor roof.
